Family Camp

This past week was one of the highlights of my summer - our annual family reunion in Moundsville, West Virginia. For twenty-five years, the Rowe family (which now has 55 members) has attended Grand Vue Park where we rent out the cabins and just have fun. We go swimming, play paintball, go to the drive-in, clog up the water slide, play putt-putt, play Halo, beat the tar out of each other with pool noodles, and eat way too much. At the drive-in, we watched Poseidon, which I thought was the dumbest movie I had ever seen....until I watched Grizzly Man. Wow. The guy was insane. His friends (paid actors) were also idiots. One guy said, "There's an old saying on the farm that goes, 'If it doesn't scare the cows, who cares?'" Yeah. Morons. It was soooo funny. If you get the chance, watch that movie/documentary/stupidest thing to ever be made. Be warned, he has an angry spurt where he chews out the government with some choicewords. That was unexpected. Whatever. Anyway, I hope to see everyone soon.

MUST...DO...SOMETHING!!!!

I'm slightly bored. Not too much. Just slightly. Ok. I'm really bored. If anyone wants to go do something that doesn't involve trying on three thousand outfits, let me know. I haven't seen a lot of you guys since school got out. It's kind of sad. *sniff* I'll probably never see some of you ex-seniors ever again*a lone tear rolls down my cheek*. So really, if you're going to see a movie or you want to go bowling and you actually want me to come along, give me a call. Meanwhile, I'll be sleeping.

I Found LOST

It's official. I now have a new favorite show. As much as I like 24, LOST is better. If you've never seen the show, then you're missing out. Just the other day, a guy exploded. That was cool. There's also this thing that makes a ton of noise and mauls people, but you never see it very clearly. All I know is that I can't wait til Season 2 comes out on DVD (sometime in September, I think). Until then, I'll just wait. Oh yeah. Don't go flying over the Pacific anytime soon.

As Promised...

Here are just a few of the nearly 8000 pictures we took while we were in Kenya. Enjoy.

Run for the Hills! He's Back!

Wow. 33 days away from home....and nobody bothered to visit me. What's that all about? I mean, come on! It's not like I was in Afric- oh yeah. But seriously...205 comments?!?!? you guys are insane! That has to be a record. If I'm inducted into Guinness, I'll give all who participated acknowledgment. I'm really happy to be back, and I hope I see you all soon.

As for my trip, I'll give a brief rundown. We went to Kapsowar, Kenya, where the hills are green, the weather is perfect, and the roads are as smooth as my pick-up lines (which are not very smooth, in case you were wondering.) I learned the basics of electrical wiring (I was the apprentice electrician), and I also learned how to cut grass with a dull machete. It took five of us three days to cut one yard. Long, boring work. On to cool things. We caught chameleons, which we tried to bring back to the U.S. That didn't work. Oops. While in Kenya, I met people from all over the world. At the compound alone, I met Kenyans (duh), a Canadian, a German, an Aussie, two Chinese girls, two Israeli girls, and a guy from New Jersey. That was cool. My dad did all sorts of weird operations. One guy had been shot in the head with an arrow. Three or four people were hit by machetes - ask me about the one with the elbow sometime. One dude had a leech in his throat. Yeah. And that's normal there. I climbed a mountain, I drank lots of Coke and Fanta, I saw a baby being born, which was insanely cool, and I watched season one of 24 and Lost. That was the working part of the trip.

After three weeks at Kapsowar, we went on some safaris. That was cool. We saw almost every animal possible. Sam, I saw "munkeys," but, as you can tell, they didn't eat me. Joe, I didn't find any pygmies. Sorry. Whoever wanted the elephant, the Kenyan Government doesn't like people taking those either. Eventually, I'll get around to putting pictures, lots of them, on here. I'm so glad to be back, and I hope everyone is having an equally awesome summer.
